- Hugh and I are landscape architects who work across the USA on fine residential estates and regular peoples homes. We have a large garden, Highcote, at High Hampton. Highcote grew amoebically as we colonized the slopes of our watershed producing an moss roofed outhouse (that flushes!), a grass roofed potting shed with antique gardening pieces and bark exterior, an outdoor pavilion "The Pavilion of Pleasant Sounds" complete with kitchen, all this plus the quintessentially chic mountain cabin (c 1948) on a private lake. I'm at work on my next book about Aging in Place in Your Landscape and building on questions I've heard while lecturing on Timeless Landscape Design. 95% of Homeowners who are now 60-65 will stay on their property rather than move to a retirement community.
